HIGHLIGHTSWeek 41: The Injury Game: Four injuries marred an otherwise exciting game. The Cogs rallied back after being down 20 points to win 48-47. Injuries were Kabir (knee), Cody L. (knee), Paul S. (hamstring), and Chris (calf). Cogs this week were Frank O., Chris L., Cody L., Jesse L., Tom C., and Lex M. Week 40: To commemorate the 3rd anniversary of the Broke Dick Football League we arranged a game pitting the Avondale engineers/friends against the extended family of Jeff Kennedy. The Lobell-Picone-Kennedy clan with the collective moniker "Lobells" defeated their Broke Dick competitors 13-6. The weather was stunning and the field a nearly regulation 90 yards. The Lobells started early with an interception returned for a touchdown on the first play of the game. Midway through the first half the BDs answered back with the only offensive touchdown of the game. The extra point was no good. Late in the second half the Lobells defense capitalized on another bad throw and intercepted the ball for a touchdown. Final score Lobells: 13 BDs: 6. Cogs were: Jeff Kennedy, Cory Lobell, Brian Lobell, Brandon Lobell, Will Lobell, Trey Picone, Jason Picone and Hem Steth. Week 39: The weather was here, wish you were beautiful. Cogs 14, BDs 7. Carson Wykle picked off Kabir's pass in the end zone to seal the BDs fate. Cogs were Frank O., Carson W., Tom C., Jesse L., Danny, and Hem S. Hank H. reinjured his ankle and is on injured reserve. Week 38: Cogs 46, BDs 33. Frank C. suffered a season ending knee injury, but managed to drive himself home. This week's Cogs were Kabir, Jeff K., Tom C., Dennis H., Gerald, and Gary. Beautiful weather cannot make up for the loss of Frank C, who will be sorely missed. Week 37: When you combine perfect weather and the return of a BDFL veteran the result is a great game. The Cogs defeated the BDs 39-12. Don Baumgartner returned after a long hiatus to help his team win. The other cogs were Kabir, Paul S., Hank, William Billiot, and Jeff B., and Lex M. Week 36: 39-13 was the final score. One injury occurred which was Frank Cruz who pulled his hamstring. Tom Cuff's string didn't hold out and we fudged the sidelines. Better luck next time. Week 35: This was a game to remember. 8 on 8 and one of the closest games ever. Tom Cuff introduced his sideline string and Jeff Kennedy and Chris Decota introduced the BD's to the art of missing tackles. The Cogs started early with a 12-0 lead. Late in the second half the score narrowed to 24-20. The cogs had the ball for the final possesion of the game and sealed it with a touchdown. Final score 30-20. Cogs were Jeff K., Jeff B., Carson W., Chris D., Matt, Tom C., George B., and Jesse L. Week 34: Week 34 held the only 4 on 4 game. It was very competitive and the Cogs held out 58-40. All players deserve mentioning for their effort (even the BDs). Kabir Kalsi, Jeff Buras, Frank Oliveri, Carson Wykel, Frank Cruz, Cody Leboeuf, Jesse Leboeuf, Chris Lunk and Tom Cuff. Week 33: The field was nice but wet. The players showed but were rusty. The storm held its ground but darkness came early. Score 32-12. Nothing more can be said but there were two injuries. Lex injured his shoulder and Jesse injured his arm. Both injuries were slight. Week 32: Another successful game! The Cogs jumped to an early
lead and led 19-6 at halftime. The BDs rallied back to trail 25-19 on
the last series. The Cogs held off against the ferocious gun of Decota
to prevail. One small injury was Kabir Kalsi sprained an ankle. Cogs this
week were Kabir, Frank C., Jeff B., Stephan W., Dana M., Dennis H., and
Tom C. Week 31: The teams were 8 on 8, the weather was clear, all players showed up on time and the game commenced at 5:15! After falling behind 20-0 at halftime the Cogs rallied to win 46-26. An Impressive comeback! Cogs were Jeff K., Jesse L., Cody L., Frank C., Frank O., Dennis H., Carson W., and S. Williams. Week 30: How many football fields does it take 12 guys to have a game? 5. After being denied 4 playing fields the Cogs and BDs settled on the outfield of a softball field. The game went on for 1 hour before being cut short by a softball game. The final score 21-12. Cogs were Carson W., Dennis H., Kabir, Jeff K., and Jesse L. Week 29: The reunion of Kennedy-Kalsi led the Cogs to oust the BDs 40-27. Cogs were Jesse L., Tom C., Cody, Jeff K., and Kabir. THE ACTION
